The development of a Landscape Strategy for the Rideau is a topic of great importance and interest to everyone who has or feels a connection to the Rideau Corridor. This was an expected condition of the UNESCO designation of the Rideau Canal as a World Heritage Site. More than 3 years later, where is the Strategy?
Is it a-borning? One would hope that it is nearly ready, having taken far longer in its gestation than an elephant. If so, the available information gives no signs of labour pains. I don’t know what can be done to speed things up nor to get more information> Perhaps the September 8, 2010 meeting planned for the South Elmsley Municipal Complex will be the forum where the “cognoscenti” can be button-holed for answers.
